Walking regularly promotes a healthy lifestyle. An active adult should walk about 10,000 steps a day to maintain good health. Most adults average 3000 - 6000 steps during their regular daily routine. We want to encourage you reach your 10,000 steps. Each week we’re going to post a walking route that will take you the rest of the way.

Victoria – Mile Zero

Our inaugural “Best 5000” walking route begins at, appropriately enough, Mile Zero. Park near the Mile Zero marker and walk West along Dallas Road. Enjoy the views of the Straight of Juan De Fuca and the Olympic Mountain Range as you make your way to The Breakwater. Venture out onto the breakwater and watch for seals and starfish as you head for the light tower. Stroll to the end of the breakwater and turn back.

Once you make your way back to the Mile Zero marker you’ve hit your 5000 extra steps. (more or less depending on your stride).

EXTRA NOTE: As we head into the winter season, stormy weather can cause dangerous walking conditions on the breakwater. Please use caution.
